Synexus doubles turnover and triples forward orders

06 Aug 2008
Synexus, a world leader in the recruitment and running of clinical trials, increased its turnover by more than fifty percent in the first half of the year to more than $30million.

Michael Fort CEO of Synexus commented; "We are very pleased with the performance in the first six months but what is really exciting is that our forward order book has tripled.  Our partnership with pharma, biotech and CROs is enabling us to dramatically reduce their costs in Phase II to IV trials.  In Phase II we are also able to slash timelines as we can recruit and run the whole trial."

Synexus, which was taken private by Lyceum Capital in December 2007, is continuing to expand and is planning to open more than five new hubsites in the next nine months.

Synexus's model for recruiting and running clinical trials is based on carrying out the trials at its own hubsites in the UK, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, India and South Africa. Each hubsite, which is staffed by GCP* trained staff and fulltime, dedicated investigators, can accommodate thousands of patients.

The traditional way of recruiting for clinical trials through individual doctors is still by far the most common method.  Despite the fact that on average each doctor only recruits an average of five patients per study and more than 40 percent recruit one or less.  This incredibly costly model remains the norm.

Michael Fort continued, "We are well on our way to doubling our capacity to 25,000 patients."
