Synexus on track for expansion in Central and Eastern Europe with key senior appointment

03 Jun 2009
Dr Christian Tueni has been appointed as Synexus Vice President for Central and Eastern Europe.

Dr Tueni will be responsible for managing Synexus business throughout the CEE region where he will also take charge of the organisation's growing network of clinical trial sites and lead business development there. Synexus, which is based in Manchester, UK, is the largest multinational company in the recruitment of patients to its own clinical trials centres.

Synexus continues to boost it's presence in the region with the opening of a new regional office in Budapest next to its existing clinical trial centre as well as the appointment of a new Site Director for the Poland operation, Wojciech Szczepanik.

Dr Tueni joins Synexus from German CRO, Averion where he enjoyed considerable success as CEE managing director and was influential in the company's expansion throughout Europe. He also brings useful pharmaceutical industry experience. The strategic experience he has gained in the region over the course of the past decade will be invaluable to Synexus as it continues to develop it's clinical trials operations here. Dr Tueni is a qualified medical doctor with a Diploma from the Austrian Chamber of Physicians in Vienna.

Michael Fort, CEO of Synexus said: "Under the leadership of Dr Tueni, and with the benefit of his considerable local expertise, we expect to see our presence and success in this region grow more rapidly and more effectively. We are delighted that he has joined us and look forward to working with him to accelerate our business development plans in this strategically important area."

The appointment of Dr Tueni follows that of Dr Erika Nemeth as Operations Manager in Hungary earlier this year. Hungary continues to be one of the most successful CEE countries for Synexus in the running of clinical trials from their dedicated site which has access to a large pool of patients. Synexus is currently involved in several major studies here for large pharmas, alongside numerous smaller projects.
